‘Twas The Week Before Christmas
‘Twas the week before Christmas, and all through my mind
Thoughts were a whirling of all different kinds
Parties and menus and things yet to do
Cleaning and shopping to name just a few
I sat at the table, coffee in hand
The house was still quiet without new demands
My husband outside and the kids still asleep
I looked through the Scripture, God’s promise to keep
The one about Jesus, His coming to earth
God’s plan set in motion to give us new birth
I read of the stories that led to this day
No sin, scar, or weakness could stand in His way
All sorts of characters God chose to use
Abram, Noah, Joseph, Rahab, Jonah, Ruth
Two thousand years later, my name’s on that list
Moments He’s given me are not to be missed
The frenzy, the chaos that comes with the season
Often distract me from savoring the reason
When in my mind the thoughts were all a scatter
My soul set fresh focus to the heart of the matter
When what to my wandering eyes did appear
The face of my Savior, His words in my ear
“Make this life matter, pour yourself out for Me.
Use what I’ve given you to be the best you can be.”
“I’m coming for you, my precious child, believe;
My purpose for you is amazing, don’t be deceived.”
“This week before Christmas just let your soul rest
Advent brings hope, peace and joy, My very best.”
“I am always with you, never out of your sight
So Merry CHRISTmas to all, and to all a good night!”
