Finished but Not Over

The sun rises on a new day. But the weight of darkness still lingers from the hours before. Shouting voices are now quiet as the angry crowds have dispersed. The ground has settled. The veil is torn. The bloody cross no longer stands.

Jesus is dead, and hope seems lost.

Painful silence echoes through the minds of those who chose to believe. Fear and doubt overwhelm their troubled souls. Satan flashes an arrogant smile, basking in his apparent victory. “It’s finished, alright,” he jeers. “Who do you think you are anyway?”

Jesus is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world. But like a lamb to the slaughter, He did not open His mouth.

Today the Lamb lies still. But hope is not lost. The Father is quietly, yet powerfully, executing His plan and fulfilling His promise. The Messiah has come. He has faithfully and perfectly completed the work required for His mission.

It is finished…but it’s not over. Sunday’s still coming.
