Soul-Satisfying Sunday

As the devil continues to taunt the silent Savior, the ground begins to tremble. At first a quiet rumbling, but growing with intensity until it erupts in violent shaking, pushing away the stone. Satan’s sneer turns to fear as Jesus begins to move. Evil falls down as the Good Shepherd stands up. Darkness is exposed as the Light of the World is restored. Lies are obliterated as Truth is revealed.

The earth is quaking. Jesus is rising. Satan is shrinking. Angels are applauding. And God the Father is declaring victory. Jesus bursts forth from the tomb, and with Satan crippled under His feet says, “Who do I think I am? I am the Resurrection and the Life!”

The fears of Friday gave way to the silence of Saturday. But today…today is Satan-stomping Sunday! Today the sin-defeating Son of God conquered death and secured the Way for my soul to be eternally saved and satisfied. Today I shout “Hallelujah!” because I have hope. Today I lift my hands because I have life. Today I let tears of inexpressible joy pour down my cheeks because I have Jesus!

I can endure fearful Fridays and silent Saturdays because I know that the Satan-stomping, soul-satisfying Sunday has come. He has risen, just as He said.
