My “Yes” Is On The Table
Last summer my family experienced The Ark Encounter in Kentucky. Standing in front of a life-size replica of Noah’s ark was quite impressive, greatly enhancing my understanding of what a high calling and colossal task God had instructed Noah to accomplish. But more than that, God showed me the immensity of my smallness in contrast to the incomparable greatness of the mission He calls us to.
She Said Yes
It was the middle of a seemingly ordinary day. I went about my work, daydreaming about marrying Joseph and the life we would have together. When I looked up, I saw an angel before me. I took a step back. “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you!” he said to me. I looked around, startled and confused, wondering what this was all about.

Yesterday I was out running errands, and as I was leaving Target I noticed a man near the intersection. He had a white beard and was wearing a coat with a hood, standing in the freezing rain, holding a sign that read “homeless vet.” As I approached the light, it turned green, so I continued to move forward. As I passed the man, we made eye contact, something I always avoid in those situations. His eyes were bright blue, but what I saw there broke me a little. I saw pain. I saw need. I saw a plea for help. But I kept going.
This Is Me
I have long since graduated college, but this video inspires me. When merged with biblical principles, it fires me up; it ignites the passion in my soul. Why? Because “obedience” is the word God has given me this year. I don’t typically succumb to the tradition of choosing a theme word for a given time period, but last year I found “surrender” to be an uninvited yet necessary theme in my life. And as I have been slowly learning to surrender my life and my plans to the Almighty God, (you wouldn’t think it would be so hard- I mean, He is the ALMIGHTY God!), He has also been working in my heart to live in full obedience to what He is calling me to.
